OPSC Prelims Exam Date 2025

OPSC OCS Eligibility Criteria 2025

Applicants in the unreserved category must be between 21 and 38 years old, born between 2 January 1986, and 1 January 2003. SC/ST/OBC/Ex-Servicemen/Women candidates can apply up to the age of 43, while PwD candidates with 40% or more disability can apply up to 48 years old. The exact birthdate range for PwDs is not specified.

  • Education Qualification: A bachelor’s degree in any specialization from a recognized university.
    • The candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any State or Nationally Recognised University or a Deemed to be a University under section 3 of UGC.
    • The candidates must be able to read, write and speak the Odia language and have:
    • Passed Middle School Examination with Odia as a language or a subject;
    • Passed HSC or Equivalent with Odia as a medium of examination in a non-language subject;
    • Passed Odia as a language subject in the final examination of class 8th in school or educational institute.
  • Nationality: Candidates need to be citizens of India.
  • Number of Attempts: Eligible candidates can make up to 6 attempts at the Civil Services Examination. However: There is no limit for SC/ST candidates. Socially and Educationally Backward Class candidates can make up to 9 attempts if they are eligible for reservation.

Note: Appearing for the Preliminary Examination counts as one attempt.

  • If a candidate appears for even one paper in the Preliminary Exam, it is considered an attempt.
  • Candidates cannot claim age relaxation to increase the number of attempts.

OPSC OCS Selection Process 2025

The OPSC OCS Selection Process 2025 consists of three main stages.

  • The first stage is the Prelims Examination,
  • the second stage is the Mains Examination and

Preliminary Examination:

The Preliminary Examination is a screening test that includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs). It aims to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.

  • Papers:
    • Paper I (General Studies): 200 marks, 2 hours.
    • Paper II (General Studies): 200 marks, 2 hours.
  • Total Marks: 400 marks.
  • Note: Paper II (General Studies) is a qualifying paper where candidates need to score at least 33% marks.
  • Negative Marking: There is a penalty for wrong answers in the Preliminary Exam.

Mains Examination

The Main Examination is a descriptive Type and it is designed to assess a candidate’s in-depth knowledge and understanding of various subjects.

Papers:

    1. Odia Language: 250 marks.
    2. English Language: 250 marks.
    3. English Essay: 250 marks.
    4. General Studies I: 250 marks.
    5. General Studies II: 250 marks.
    6. Optional Subject Paper I: 250 marks.
    7. Optional Subject Paper II: 250 marks.
  • Total Marks: 1750 marks.
  • Optional Subjects: Candidates have to choose one optional subject (two papers), which is based on the OPSC’s official list of subjects.

3. Personality Test (Interview)- After the Main Examination, candidates who qualify are called for the Personality Test or Interview which is of 250 marks.

The OPSC Civil Services Exam Pattern for 2025 will follow the same format as previous years.  Here’s a simple breakdown of the exam pattern for all three stages of the OPSC Civil Services 2025 exam.

OPSC OCS Prelims Exam Pattern

The Preliminary exam consists of two papers, each worth 200 marks. There will be a negative marking of 1/3rd of the marks for each incorrect answer. However, the marks obtained in the prelims exam will not be included in the final merit list.

  • In the OPSC OCS Mains Examination, candidates must choose two optional subjects besides the compulsory ones.
  • OPSC has provided a list of discipline subjects from which candidates can make their selections.
  • Each optional subject consists of two papers.
