PM Yoga Awards 2023 Nomination Process Begins

PM Yoga Awards: Prime Minister’s Awards for Yoga 2023 are facilitated annually on the International Day of Yoga (IDY). PM Yoga Awards are given for exemplary contribution in the field of Yoga towards the development and promotion of Yoga. PM Yoga Award is also important for UPSC Prelims Exam and UPSC Mains Exam (GS Paper 1- Indian culture will cover the salient aspects of Art Forms, Literature and Architecture from ancient to modern times).

Recently, the Ministry of Ayush has invited applications/nominations for Prime Minister’s Awards for the Yoga 2023 (also referred as the PM Yoga Awards).

PM Yoga Awards 2023

Prime Minister’s Awards for Yoga 2023 recognizes exemplary contribution towards the development and promotion of Yoga both at national and international level.

• Awards: PM Yoga Awards 2023 are given under following two categories-
  • National Awards: The two National Awards will be given to entities of Indian origin, for their contribution to the promotion and development of Yoga.
  • International Awards: The two International Awards will be given to entities of Indian or foreign origin, for their contribution to the promotion and development of Yoga across the Globe.
• Yoga Awards Date: PM Yoga Awards 2023 Winners will be announced on the 9th International Day of Yoga (21st June 2023).

PM Yoga Awards 2023 Application Process

The PM Yoga Awards applications/nominations process of yoga award for the year 2023 is currently hosted on the MyGov platform (https://innovateindia.mygov.in/pm-yoga-awards-2023/). Link for the same shall also be available on Ministry of Ayush’s website and National Awards Portal. The applications/nominations process for this year’s awards will be open till 31st March 2023.

PM Yoga Awards 2023 Selection Process

The PM Yoga Awards selection process follows two tier system, for which two committees will be constituted by the Ministry of Ayush, namely the Screening Committee and the Evaluation Committee (Jury).

• Screening Committee: A screening of all the applications/ nominations received will be done by a Screening Committee which shall be constituted every year by the Ministry of Ayush.
  • The Screening Committee shall comprise 4 members including a Chairperson.
• Evaluation Committee: The Evaluation Committee (Jury) is chaired by the cabinet secretary and include members i.e. advisor to Prime Minister, Foreign secretary, Secretary Ministry of Ayush and others.
  • It decides the selection and evaluation criteria for finalizing the recipients of the awards.

Prime Minister’s Awards for Yoga 2023

• The name of the winners will be announced on the 9th International Day of Yoga (21st June 2023)
• The winners will be felicitated by means of a Trophy, Certificate and a Cash Award
• The felicitation ceremony will coincide with the International Yoga Conference.
• The value of each Cash Award would be Rs. 25 lakh
• In the case of joint winners, the awards would be divided amongst the winners.
