- Recently, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
- The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu will also grace the valedictory session of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention and confer Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Awards tomorrow (January 10, 2023) at Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

- About: Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is the flagship event of the Government of India that provides an important platform to engage and connect with overseas Indians and enable the diaspora to interact with each other.
- Theme: The theme of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas 2023 convention is ‘Diaspora: Reliable partners for India’s progress in Amrit Kaal’.
- Participation: Over 3,500 diaspora members from nearly 70 different countries have registered for the Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas 2023.
- Venue: Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas 2023 is being organized in in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

- Historical Background: 9th January 1915 marks the day of the return of Mahatma Gandhi to India from South Africa. After his return, the freedom struggle movement in India truly became a mass movement against British rule in India.
- Origin: Since 2003, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD) conventions are being held every year on 9th January to mark the contribution of the Overseas Indian community in the development of India.
- PBD Conventions: The format of has Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas has been revised since 2015 to celebrate the PBD once every two years and to hold theme-based PBD Conferences.
