The Punjab PCS Prelims Exam 2025 is expected to take place in April 2025. While this exact date is not yet confirmed by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). Age Limit:

  • Candidates must be at least 21 years old and no older than 37 years on 1 January 2025.
Punjab PCS Age relaxations are available for certain categories:
  • Up to 42 years for Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes (except for Punjab Police and Prisons Service).
  • Up to 45 years for the Punjab Government and other State/Central Government employees (except for Punjab Police Service).
  • Ex-servicemen can deduct their military service from their age, as long as it doesn’t exceed the age limit by more than 3 years.
  • Up to 42 years for Widows, Divorced women, and other specific women categories (except for Punjab Police and Prisons Service).
  • Up to 47 years for Physically Handicapped candidates in Punjab only (except for Punjab Police and Prisons Service).
  • For the Punjab Police and Prisons Service, age limit relaxations are up to 33 years for Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes.
  • For certain posts like Deputy Superintendent Police and Deputy Superintendent Jails, the age limit is 21-28 years.

Education Qualification

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or institution. To appear in the Preliminary Exam, candidates must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a subject or an equivalent exam in Punjabi.
  • Also, Candidates who have not yet passed Matriculation with Punjabi or its equivalent, but plan to appear for it, can select “Yes” in the “Passed Punjabi Language” column when submitting the online application. However, their eligibility will depend on passing the exam one day before the PCS CCE preliminary exam.

Nationality

  • A candidate must be an Indian citizen
  • A citizen of Nepal;
  • A subject of Bhutan;
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling permanently;
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or certain African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) or Vietnam, with the intention of permanently settling in India.
