Recently, Startup India organized the third edition in the form of first-ever physical Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Startup Forum in New Delhi.
- Previous two editions were successful organized in virtual mode by Startup India, Department of Promotion for Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce.
- At SCO Startup Forum 2023, Union Minister of State, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Shri Som Parkash highlighted the role of Startup Ecosystem in boosting the economy of a nation.
SCO Startup Forum 2023 Details
The primary objective of the SCO Startup Forum 2023 engagement was to enhance the scope of startup interactions among the member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
- Mandate: The SCO Startup Forum initiative aimed to foster a culture of innovation, create job opportunities, and motivate young entrepreneurs to develop creative solutions.
- Participation: The SCO Startup forum witnessed physical participation from SCO Member States including a delegation of government officials, private industry players, incubators and startups.
- Implementation: SCO Startup Forum 2023 has been organized by Startup India, Department of Promotion for Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce.
- Significance: Through its leadership in organizing such engagements, India seized the opportunity to showcase the potential for expanding the footprint of innovation, integrating the entire ecosystem, and motivating other member states of the SCO to initiate similar programs.
Initiatives by Startup India for SCO Member States
Previously, Startup India had organized various initiatives for SCO Member states including:
- SCO Startup Forum 2020: The SCO Startup Forum laid the foundation for multilateral cooperation and engagement for startups among the SCO Member States.
- SCO Startup Forum 2021: The two-day Forum was held virtually through a customized platform representing the Indian culture in augmented reality.
- SCO Startup Hub, a single point of contact for the SCO startup ecosystem, was launched in this forum.
- Focused Mentorship Program: A 3-month long virtual mentorship series ‘Starting-Up’ was organized for the nominated startups, to build capacity among the SCO Startup founders.
