The Uttarakhand Public Service Commission has released the UKPSC APS Syllabus 2024 on its official website at psc.uk.gov.in/. The Syllabus for Additional Private Secretary (APS) Exam has been mentioned in the UKPSC APS Notification PDF. The UKPSC also issued the exam pattern for the UKPSC APS Exam 2024. UKPSC APS Syllabus 2024- Highlights

The Uttrakhand Commission will conduct the UKPSC APS Exam 2024 in two stages- Stage 1 and Stage 2. There will be five exams in the first phase and two exams in the second phase. Candidates can check the table below to learn a glimpse of the UKPSC APS Syllabus.

UKPSC APS Syllabus 2024

The UKPSC APS Syllabus for 2024 covers a wide range of topics crucial for the Additional Private Secretary (APS) examination. Candidates preparing for the UKPSC exam 2024 for the APS posts must understand the syllabus and exam pattern to be successful in the exam. Below we have provided the UKPSC APS Syllabus for Stage 1 and Stage 2:

First Phase Syllabus

In the first phase of the UKPSC APS Syllabus, there will be 5 exams including Hindi Typing Test, English Typing Test, Computer Knowledge, Hindi Stenography, and English Shorthand.

  • Hindi Typing Test: To assess Hindi typing skills (mandatory), candidates will receive one question paper to complete within 10 minutes. They need to type at a speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on a computer. Those who meet this speed requirement will receive 10 marks. Additional marks are given based on more key depressions, but the total additional digits won’t exceed 15 in total. Candidates failing to meet the speed requirement will not be considered for employment.
  • English Typing Test: Candidates will have 10 minutes to complete an English typing test. They need to type at a speed of 9000 key depressions per hour on a computer. If they don’t meet this speed, they will not be eligible for the job. Candidates who achieve 9000 key depressions will get 10 marks. Additional marks are given for every 1000 key depressions above 9000, but the total extra key depressions cannot exceed 15.
  • Computer Knowledge: In computer knowledge, there will be six topics. Check the table below.

    5 Working knowledge of emailing (sending, sending with attachment, reading, saving, printing, maintaining address book, etc.) 15
    6 Working knowledge of preparing presentations (PowerPoint, PDF, etc.) with different styles and animations 10

    Note – i) Each procedure takes a screenshot and then a Printout of the output shall be taken and given for evaluation.
    ii) Passing the practical examination related to computer knowledge is mandatory. This qualifying exam requires candidates to obtain at least 50 per cent marks. Those who score less than 50 per cent will not be considered eligible for employment.

  • Hindi Stenography: To apply for the Additional Private Secretary position, candidates must type at 80 words per minute in Hindi shorthand. They’ll listen to and type a Hindi passage at this speed on a computer within 5 minutes, with 35 minutes given for typing. The passage tests both shorthand speed and understanding of idiomatic language. Candidates who make more than 5 percent errors won’t qualify for the job.
  • English Shorthand: To apply for the Additional Private Secretary position, candidates need to type at 100 words per minute in English shorthand. They will listen to and type an English passage at this speed on a computer within 5 minutes, with 35 minutes provided for typing. The passage is chosen to test both shorthand speed and understanding of idiomatic language. Candidates who make more than 5 percent errors will not be considered eligible for preference.
    Note:- Candidates who pass the Hindi and English typing tests will proceed to the computer knowledge test. Those who pass the computer knowledge test will then qualify for the Hindi and English stenography tests. The English stenography test is optional for preferential consideration.

Second Phase Syllabus

In the second phase of the UKPSC APS Syllabus, there will be 2 exams including General Studies and an Essay & Drafting Test.

⇒General Studies: In this exam, there will be national and international events of Uttarakhand, General Science, History of India, Indian Constitution, Economy, and Culture, Geographical description of Uttarakhand, Census of Uttarakhand, Education, culture of Uttarakhand, and General Intelligence Test and Ethics.

Note: The number of marks for questions related to Uttarakhand in the objective type General Studies section will be exactly 40.

UKPSC APS Exam Pattern 2024

First Phase Exam Pattern

Note: Only the successful candidates in Hindi and English typing tests will be included in the computer knowledge test. Second Phase Exam Pattern

The General Studies section of the UKPSC APS exam will be worth 100 marks and must be completed in 2 hours. Detailed information on the total marks for the essay and drafting test, along with the duration, is provided in the table below.

  • The General Studies section will feature objective-type questions.
  • The essay questions will be descriptive.
  • There is a negative marking of 1/4 marks in the General Studies section.
  • The minimum qualifying mark for the Essay and Drafting Test is 35%.
