UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission conducts the UPPSC Exam every year. The Prelims include General Studies and CSAT, while the Main Exam consists of descriptive papers on various subjects. Below is the Overview of the UPPSC Exam Pattern.

UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 (Prelims)
The UPPSC Prelims Exam is the first stage of the UPPSC Exam 2025. It includes two papers: Paper I and Paper II, each has 200 marks with multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Paper I covers topics like current events, history, and geography, while Paper II tests comprehension, reasoning, mental ability, and language skills in English and Hindi. UPPSC PCS Marking Scheme for Prelims
The Marking Scheme for the UPPSC Prelims is as follows:
- In the UPPSC PCS Preliminary Exam, Paper 1 consists of 150 questions carrying a total of 200 marks, and candidates are given 2 hours to complete the exam.
- Paper 2 has 100 questions, also carrying 200 marks, with the same 2-hour duration. General Studies Paper 2 (CSAT) is a qualifying paper, requiring to score of at least 33%.
- Negative marking is 1/3 of the incorrect question, Candidates should note that three incorrect answers will cancel out one correct answer, resulting in a score of zero for those four questions. No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions.
- Paper I determines the exam cutoff.
- Marking multiple answers for one question on the OMR sheet counts as incorrect.
- No negative markings for questions left blank.
UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 (Mains)
After clearing the UPPSC prelims exam, candidates will be called for the main examination. The UPPSC Mains Exam 2025 consists of eight descriptive papers, carrying a total of 1500 marks. The exam pattern has some important revisions.

UPPSC Exam Pattern 2025 (Interview)
UPPSC Interview takes place at the UPPSC office in Prayagraj, where candidates must appear on the scheduled date. The UPPSC Interview Exam has no fixed pattern and depends on the candidate’s skills. During the interview, original documents related to academics and professional experience are verified. This Interview stage holds 100 marks.
UPPSC Exam Negative Marking
In the UPPSC Prelims exam, there is a negative marking. If you answer a question incorrectly, 1/3rd (0.33) of the marks allotted to that question will be Subtracted. No marks are deducted for unanswered questions.
