Steps to Apply Online for the UPSC Application From 2025?

Candidates applying for the UPSC Exam 2025 should carefully read the instructions to understand how to fill out the application form correctly. Follow these steps to apply:

Online Application:

  • Apply online by visiting https://upsconline.gov.in.
  • Register first at One Time Registration (OTR) on the official UPSC website.
  • OTR registration is done only once and can be completed anytime.
  • After OTR, proceed to fill out the online application form for the exam.
  • Upload your photograph, signature, and required documents.
  • Pay the application fee via online banking, debit, or credit card.
  • Review and submit your form before the deadline (11th February 2025).

Modifying OTR Profile:

  • You can modify your OTR profile only once after registration.
  • Changes can be made within 7 days of the application window closing for your first exam.
  • The last date to modify the OTR profile for this exam is 18th February 2025.

Modifying Application Form:

  • You can make corrections in the application form from 12th to 18th February 2025.
  • Changes in the OTR profile cannot be made during this period.

UPSC Eligibility Criteria 2025

The process of applying for the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) Civil Services Exam begins with meeting the UPSC eligibility criteria 2025. The eligibility requirements for the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2025 mainly include Nationality, educational qualifications, and the age limit.

Nationality Requirements:

For the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, and Indian Police Service, the candidate must be an Indian citizen.

For other services, the candidate can be:

  • An Indian citizen, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, or
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or East African nations, to permanently settle in India.

A candidate must be between 21 and 32 years old as of 1st August 2025. This means the candidate must be born between 2nd August 1993 and 1st August 2004 to be eligible.

UPSC Education Qualification

A candidate must have a Graduate degree from a recognized university in India or an equivalent qualification.

  • Candidates who have appeared for a qualifying exam or plan to appear before the Civil Services Exam are eligible to apply, but they must provide proof of passing the exam before the Interview/Personality Test.
  • In rare cases, the Commission may accept candidates with other qualifications if they are considered equivalent to the required standard.
  • Candidates with professional qualifications recognized by the Government are also eligible.
  • Medical candidates (e.g., MBBS) who haven’t completed their internship by application time can still apply but must provide proof of passing their final exam. They must show completion of their internship at the time of the Interview.

UPSC Selection Process 2025

The UPSC selection process for 2024 involves three main stages:

Preliminary Examination (Prelims):

  • Two objective-type papers: General Studies Paper-I (covers history, geography, economics, etc.) and CSAT Paper-II (tests aptitude and comprehension).
  • It is a screening test to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination.

Main Examination (Mains):

  • Written test with nine papers: including Essay, General Studies (four papers), Optional Subjects (two papers), and qualifying Indian and English Language papers.

Interview:

  • Candidates who clear Mains are interviewed to assess their personality, and communication skills.

UPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

UPSC Prelims 2025 will be scheduled for 25th May 2025. It has two objective papers: General Studies Paper I and CSAT (Paper II). To be called for the Mains, candidates must clear the cutoff in Paper I, and Paper II is qualifying, requiring at least 33% marks.
