“Manthan 1.0”- Indian Trade Service (ITS) officers conference

 

“Manthan 1.0” in News

  • The first ever conference of Indian Trade Service Officers “Manthan 1.0” was held at Kevadia, Gujarat.
  • Commerce Secretary appreciated the initiative and expressed that such brainstorming sessions should be held regularly.

Key Objectives of Manthan 1.0

  • The conference was conducted for brainstorming on future Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), and to formulate sector wise and state wise export strategy to boost exports from India.
  • The officers also discussed ways to revamp the FTP Schemes to make it more efficient and address any implementation issues.
  • To develop Sector-wise and State-wise export promotion strategies in order to achieve 1 Trillion USD of exports in merchandise, and 1 Trillion USD exports in services exports by 2030.

Manthan 1.0 Participation

  • Over 75 officers of the Indian Trade Service attended the first Indian Trade Service (ITS) officers conference 2022.
  • Union Commerce Secretary and Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) also addressed the first conference of Indian Trade Service Officers “Manthan 1.0”.

  • Military Exercise Garuda VII 2022 is being conducted between Indian Air Force (IAF) and French Air and Space Force (FASF) in India.
  • Ex Garuda VII is due to culminate on 12 November 22, 2022.

Ex Garuda VII 

  • About: Ex Garuda is a joint bi-lateral military exercise conducted between Indian Air Force (IAF) and French Air and Space Force (FASF).
    • Previous Garuda Exercise (Ex Garuda VI) was held in 2019 in France.
  • Venue: Ex Garuda takes place alternatively in France and India. Ex Garuda VII is being Conducted in India.
  • Objective: Objectives for the Garuda exercise were to foster closer relationship between India and France so as to promote interoperability through exchange of knowledge and experience.
    • The exercise Garuda ensured that the participating forces were exposed to operational environment in an international scenario.

Ex Garuda VII Participation

  • Ex Garuda VII is also the first occasion for the LCA Tejas and the recently inducted LCH Prachand to participate in any international exercise.
  • The Garuda VII exercise includes four FASF Rafale fighters and one A-330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft.
  • Apart from the LCA and LCH, the IAF contingent consists of Su-30 MKI, Rafale and Jaguar fighter aircraft, as well as Mi-17 helicopters.
  • The IAF contingent also includes Combat Enabling Assets like Flight Refuelling Aircraft, AWACS, AEW&C and Garud Special Forces.

  • Recently, Union Minister for Environment Forest and Climate Change Shri Bhupender Yadav spoke at the Launch of the Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC).
  • This event was held on the side-lines of the ongoing COP 27 at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

What is Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC)?

  • About: Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC) was launched at the COP27 Summit in Egypt to scale up and accelerate the conservation and restoration of the mangrove forests.
    • The MAC alliance will be amplified at the G20 Summit that will be held between November 15 and 16 in Bali under the presidency of Indonesia.
  • Participation: The launch of Mangrove Alliance for Climate (MAC) is spearheaded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in partnership with Indonesia.
    • India, Australia, Japan, Spain and Sri Lanka are the other MAC supporters.
  • Mandate: The MAC seeks to scale up, accelerate conservation, restoration and growing plantation efforts of mangrove ecosystems for the benefit of communities globally.
    • MAC also aims to recognize the importance of these ecosystems for climate change mitigation and adaptation.

  • Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is participating at World Travel Market (WTM) 2022 from 7th to 9th November in London.

  • About: World Travel Market (WTM) 2022 is being organized from 7th to 9th November in London, Britain. WTM is one of the largest international travel exhibitions.
  • Theme: The theme of World Travel Market 2022 (WTM) is ‘The Future of Travel Starts Now’.

Significance of India’s Participation at WTM

  • India’s participation at WTM is significant to step up recovery of Inbound tourism to pre-pandemic level.
  • India to be promoted as a multi-product and around the year destination with sustainability at WTM.
  • It also provides a platform to India to showcase the diverse tourism products and services including Medical Value travel and wellness, luxury trains and the gamut of tourism products to the international business community.
