Combined Graduate Level Examination, or SSC-CGL, is a highly competitive exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission to recruit staff to varied posts in ministries, departments and organisations of the Government of India. Selection process

The prerequisites for applying to any of the above posts is to hold on to a bachelor’s degree from any of the recognised university at the time of applying.

The SSC-CGL exam can be divided into four tiers which have different syllabus and exam pattern for each Tier.

Tier – I

It is an objective exam which is held online, and the duration is 60 minutes. The Tier - I exam is a written objective multiple-choice exam with four sections, majorly covering the subjects of:

• Quantitative Aptitude
• English Comprehension
• General Awareness
• General Intelligence and Reasoning

Tier – II

The candidates who clear the Tier – I appear for Tier – II exam, which is the Mains Exam that consists of written objective multiple-choice questions which majorly covers the following topics.

• Statistics
• Quantitative Aptitude
• English Language and Comprehension
• General Studies, which is subdivided into:
  • Finance & Accounting
  • Economics & Governance.

Tier – III
 

SSC CGL Tier - III Exam is usually a descriptive exam that is conducted offline. This exam checks for the integrity of the candidate’s language proficiency, vocabulary usage, grammar, and writing skills in either English or Hindi. The candidates are asked to write essays, letters, applications, etc. with proper format in 6o minutes.

Tier - IV

The Tier – IV of the SSC-CGL exam is required for specific government posts. The following exams are taken in Tier – IV.

• Computer Proficiency Test (CPT): This exam is conducted for the post of Assistant Section Officer of Central Secretariat Service (CSS), Assistant Section Officer (MEA), and Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines.
• DEST (Data Entry Speed Test): This exam is conducted for the post of Tax Assistants (Central Excise & Income Tax).
• Document Verification: The step is done for the final selection.
