Exam Pattern

Preliminary Exam

The Prelims is a screening test consisting of three sections:

Total	100	100	60 minutes

Key Points:

Each question carries 1 mark, and 0.25 marks are deducted for wrong answers.
Sectional cut-off and overall cut-off apply.
Candidates must clear the Prelims to qualify for the Mains exam.

Mains Exam

The Mains exam is more comprehensive and includes a Descriptive Test.

Key Points:

Descriptive Test is evaluated only if candidates qualify in the objective test.
Negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
Higher weightage is given to Mains scores in final selection.

Interview

Candidates clearing the Mains are called for a Personal Interview, which carries 100 marks.
Minimum qualifying marks – 40% for General and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates.
The final selection is based on a combined score of Mains (80%) + Interview (20%).

Final Selection
Candidates are selected based on their Mains + Interview scores and ranked in the final merit list. After selection, they undergo training and probation before becoming a full-fledged Probationary Officer.
